THE BEST OF KWELI PRINT ANTHOLOGY READING
On March 24, 2016, Angie Cruz, the founding editor of Aster(ix), invited me to lunch to talk about making our Aster(ix) / Kweli partnership official with The Best of Kweli print anthology.
The process began in August 2016. Angie read through the Kweli archives and, along with 15 MFA students at University of Pittsburgh, chose 20 stories and poems that they deemed to be the best work found on Kweli Journal’s website.
A year later, we are excited to present the Best of Kweli print anthology, with poetry and prose by Brit Bennett, Ansel Elkins, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, Nelly Rosario, Tiphanie Yanique and other amazing writers. This anthology was co-edited by Angie Cruz and Laura Pegram and is published by Blue Sketch Press. Cover art for this beautiful collection was provided by Aracelis Girmay.
We will celebrate with a launch reading on Thursday, March 23, 2017, 6 - 9pm at The Writers Room, 740 Broadway at Astor Place, 12th Floor Loft, NYC. The Writers Room is the nation's oldest and largest shared work space for writers. Seating is limited. RSVP with an email to: RSVP@kwelijournal.org
