Set the Page Afire
From Bold Creation to Publication

Kweli hosted its Second Writers' Conference on July 10, 2013 at Dumbo Sky in Brooklyn, NY. It was an amazing afternoon and evening of craft, community, books and music. Our diverse panel of SPA authors—representing various diasporas—talked about creating dangerously, and how they personally set the page afire and sparked the interest of a publisher. Additionally, a panel of top editors and agents shared what made them fall in love with an opening line, and what kept them turning the pages. Each of SPA's editors and agents has an interest in bold new voices. Their candid insider tips helped writers deal with the unique challenges of today's rapidly changing publishing industry.
